An elevated road is quietly rewriting Ballabhgarh's commute map and its property story.
Enquire NowFor decades, the stretch of Mohna Road running through old Ballabhgarh has been synonymous with gridlock. Traders, commuters and residents of the town's congested core have learned to budget an extra half-hour just to cross from the bypass to the district headquarters. That is now changing. The Public Works Department has moved forward with a two-lane elevated road that Faridabad officials describe as the town's first such structure, and construction is visibly underway on the ground. The numbers behind the project explain why it has become one of the most talked-about infrastructure stories in Greater Faridabad this year. Ballabgarh is set to receive its first elevated road project, spanning 3.5 kilometres and budgeted at Rs 215 crore. The elevated road will provide relief for traffic on the main Mohna road in the city, beginning from Ambedkar Chowk and ending near Chandawali village across the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on the city's bypass road. A local resident summed up the daily frustration the project is meant to fix: "this passage serves as a direct and indirect link to 24 villages and numerous residential colonies in the subdivision, easing daily traffic congestion that often causes delays of 30 to 45 minutes when travelling from the bypass road to the district headquarters." Construction has already disrupted daily life in the short term, a sign of how real the progress is. In October 2024, a 1,700-metre section of Mohna Road was shut for two months to allow work on the two-lane elevated bridge to proceed at pace, with four-wheelers diverted while two-wheelers continued to use the stretch. Officials have flagged the project's wider strategic value beyond just decongestion: "the elevated road project will not only resolve these issues but also provide easy access to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and a direct link to the KGP Expressway passing on the eastern fringe of the district." That expressway linkage is the real headline for homebuyers and investors. The Ballabhgarh–Mohna Elevated Road is crucial for enhancing connectivity between Faridabad and Delhi NCR, including links to NH-19, the DND–KMP link, and the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. Ballabhgarh already sits at a connectivity crossroads: it is located right on NH-19 (Delhi-Mathura Road) connecting it to BK Chowk Faridabad and NIT Faridabad on one side and Palwal on the other, while Ballabhgarh-Sohna Road provides access to Sohna and the KMP Expressway belt, and Tigaon Road connects the town to the rapidly growing sectors of Greater Faridabad. The elevated road effectively removes the last major choke point between the town centre and this expressway network, and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway interchange near Sector 65 is barely a few kilometres away, cutting long-distance drive times sharply for residents. The project has not been without turbulence. It took roughly a year of delay before formal budget approval moved ahead, and as of mid-2026 the scheme has come under the district Vigilance Department's scrutiny, a development that has kept the project in local headlines. Such scrutiny is common for large public infrastructure works and does not appear to have paused on-ground construction, but it is a factor buyers should track before assuming an immediate delivery timeline. What makes the timing significant is the broader policy push around Greater Faridabad. Greater Faridabad, popularly known as Neharpar, is rapidly emerging as a major urban hub in the National Capital Region, and the area has been identified as a key growth zone in Haryana's 2026 Budget, where the government outlined plans to strengthen urban infrastructure and connectivity. Under the Faridabad Master Plan 2031, sectors 66 to 89 have been earmarked as a self-sustained sub-city. The elevated road is a piece of this larger puzzle, feeding traffic from the old town into a corridor that is also getting boosted by the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, with the proposed Faridabad–Jewar Expressway expected to reduce travel time between Greater Faridabad and the airport to around 30-45 minutes. For homebuyers evaluating Ballabhgarh today, the calculus is shifting. Today Ballabhgarh has its own metro station at Raja Nahar Singh on the Violet Line, sits on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway corridor in the Greater Faridabad sector, and new sectors along the bypass are bringing fresh development to the older town every year. Land parcels and plotted developments along the Mohna Road and bypass belt have historically traded at a discount to Greater Faridabad's newer sectors precisely because of the congestion the elevated road is designed to fix; as that bottleneck eases, the gap between old-town and new-sector pricing is one of the more interesting trends to watch through 2026 and beyond.
