Basai Village to Dwarka Expressway metro spur moves from paper to pavement.
Enquire NowGurugram's long-awaited metro expansion has crossed a visible milestone. With the bhoomi pujan completed in late 2025, workers are now visible across the corridor as the metro spur from Basai Village to the expressway moves into active construction. For homebuyers who have watched the Dwarka Expressway grow from a construction site into a functioning arterial road, this is the connectivity piece that has been missing. The spur itself is compact but strategically vital. The 28.5 km proposed metro corridor consists of a 26.65 km long elevated corridor from Millennium City Centre to Cyber City with a 1.85 km spur from Basai Village to Dwarka Expressway. The elevated stretch will feature 14 stations, including Sector 45, Cyber Park, Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Basai and Sector 9, and the spur will diverge from Basai toward Sector 101 on the Dwarka Expressway. On the ground, engineers are drilling shafts up to 1.2 metres wide and nearly 30 metres deep, lowering steel reinforcement cages and filling them with concrete. The station planned for the spur has its own backstory. Due to concerns over high water levels in Basai that could lead to waterlogging and damage to the depot, the decision was made to relocate the depot to Sector 33, and the metro station will now be constructed at the Dwarka Expressway spur. This station will be strategically located in Sector 101, built on a one-acre plot with advanced amenities, and will be approximately 140 metres long and 23 metres wide, with two entry and exit points for passengers. GMRL's leadership has been vocal about the pace of work. Managing director Chandra Shekhar Khare noted, "We intend to take up construction in an expedited manner... Once operational, the metro will strengthen public transport in Gurgaon by offering a reliable alternative and improving access between residential sectors and commercial hubs." GMRL officials said that the launch of piling work will accelerate broader civil construction. The numbers behind the project underline its scale. Project cost is estimated at approximately ₹5,452 crore, with cabinet approval granted in June 2023. Over 900 pillars are currently being cast, with foundation work active in sectors like Sector 45 and Subhash Chowk, while tenders for Phase 2 covering Sector 9 to Cyber City are scheduled to open in March 2026. Officials are targeting an ambitious timeline: the project is expected to be completed by mid-2027, with trial runs for Phase 1 tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2027. For homebuyers, the real story is what this does to property values along the corridor. Industry estimates suggest property values will rise by 15% to 20% in locations along the new metro corridor, including the Southern Peripheral Road, the Dwarka Expressway, and New Gurugram. This is layered on top of appreciation the corridor has already seen from the expressway itself: Dwarka Expressway has recorded roughly 151% price growth over five years per 99acres data, with a 58% year-on-year surge in Q4 2024–Q1 2025 marking the highest of any residential corridor in India. Sector 37D — sometimes called the DXP Estate for its direct frontage on the expressway — sits close to the Basai spur alignment and is where Signature Global has concentrated much of its Dwarka Expressway portfolio, spanning affordable, mid-segment and ultra-luxury formats. As construction crews move from foundation work to viaduct casting over the coming months, buyers evaluating projects in this belt get a rare advantage: the ability to track a metro line's progress in near real time rather than relying on a distant promise on a brochure. That said, seasoned observers of Gurugram infrastructure urge measured optimism. Foundation work began on September 5, 2025, followed by construction mobilization, though timelines can shift with utilities, right-of-way and contractor progress. Homebuyers should treat mid-2027 as a target date to monitor rather than a guarantee, while recognising that active piling and viaduct work — visible today near Basai and Sector 101 — is a stronger signal than any prior announcement in this project's 15-year history.
